Health and safety at work is everybody’s business - Practical guidance for employers

The EU Commission published this guide in 2017 to assist employers in an effective and efficient implementation of the occupational safety and health framework.

Aim
The guide aims at helping employers to successfully manage occupational safety and health (OSH) in line with the EU Framework Directive 89/391/EEC and the other OSH Directives.

Contents
The guide contains 7 chapters. The first chapter explains that good health and safety is good for business. Investing in OSH leads not only to fewer accidents and work-related illnesses, but also to motivated workers and higher productivity. Chapter two summarises the legal obligations. Chapter 3 to 6 describes the key elements of OSH management: risk assessment, prevention, OSH training, and leadership. Chapter 7 focuses on three examples of risk management: work-related stress, musculoskeletal disorders, and diversity sensitive risk assessment.
The guide presents practical tips and links to online resources such as the Napo-films and the Oira (Online interactive risk assessment) tools
