A source-oriented strategy to reduce workplace risks during the maintenance process of trains

The core business of the company NedTrain (based in The Netherlands) is the maintenance of trains.  The company distinguishes between 4 types of maintenance: daily maintenance, short-term13 maintenance, long-term14 maintenance and ad hoc corrective maintenance. In the near future, NedTrain will be responsible for the maintenance of the high-speed trains.

Unsafe working conditions and occupational accidents can lead to disruption of the maintenance process. Failures in the planning and execution of maintenance tasks can have major consequences for the company as they disrupt train schedules.
