Discover insights from the fourth European Survey of Enterprises on New and Emerging Risks (ESENER 2024) in a newly released, easy-to-navigate presentation. It offers an overview of the most common workplace risk factors across Europe and provides a decade-long perspective on the practical management of occupational safety and health - comparing data from the 2014, 2019 and 2024 surveys.

There are some revealing facts:

  • Musculoskeletal disorders remain the most frequently identified risk factors, yet the number of establishments taking preventive measures is still below 2014 levels.
  • 35% of workplaces in the EU-27 report discussing about the impact of the use of digital technologies on the health and safety of their workers — an 11% increase since 2019.
  • Telework has risen by 10%, and risk assessments covering home offices have increased by 17% over the past five years.

ESENER 2024 surveyed over 41,000 establishments of all sizes and sectors across 30 countries.
