SAFE USE OF NANOMATERIALS IN POLYMER COMPOUNDS - EXTRUSION AND INJECTION MOULDING

Nanomaterials are handled in the production of bipolar plates. Activities and processes, which involve the handling of nanomaterials for example Carbon Nanotubes (CNT), include the filling of raw materials (dusts) into a compounder, compounding and extrusion of CNT-containing granulates, re-melting of granulates and injection moulding of bipolar plates as well as further mechanical (manual) surface processing. At each of these stages exposures to CNTs could occur.
