Declaration of intention for cooperation between DG GROW, EU-OSHA and EISMEA

Communication Partnership Project

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of Europe's economy. They represent 99% of all businesses in the EU. They employ around 100 million people, account for more than half of Europe’s GDP and play a key role in adding value in every sector of the economy. SMEs bring innovative solutions to challenges like climate change, resource efficiency and social cohesion and help spread this innovation throughout Europe’s regions. They are therefore central to the EU’s twin transitions to a sustainable and digital economy. They are essential to Europe’s competitiveness and prosperity, industrial ecosystems, economic and technological sovereignty, and resilience to external shocks.

In 2015, a new Declaration of Cooperation between the Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry (now the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW)), the Executive Agency for SMEs (now the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA)) and EU-OSHA facilitated an official partnership with the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN).

Enterprise Europe Network

Enterprise Europe Network Occupational Safety and Health Award

The Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) helps businesses innovate and grow on an international scale. It is the world’s largest support network for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with international ambitions.

The Network is  active worldwide. It brings together experts from member organisations that are renowned for their excellence in business support.

The Communication Partnership Project (CPP) aims to raise awareness of the importance of OSH to SMEs and to provide them with easy access to practical information and useful contacts at national and regional levels, including national partnership meetings, awareness-raising packages and other activities such as EEN OSH Awards.

The EEN members are one of the main partners that help EU-OSHA achieve its objectives, together with the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW), the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) and EU-OSHA’s national focal points.
