EU-OSHA carried out a field visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina to meet the FOP authority and the OSH representataives from the two federal entities and the District of Brčko

In the period between 27 and 30 May 2025, following the invitation from the Bosnia and Herzegovina Focal Point authority, EU-OSHA organised a field visit to Sarajevo and Banja Luka to meet with the national OSH representatives and discuss a strategy for a tailored OSH knowledge sharing support

Within the framework of the EC-funded IPA Action 2023-2025, following the invitation from the Ministry of Civil Affairs (FOP authority), on 28 and 29 May 2025, EU-OSHA carried out a field visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sarajevo and Banja Luka) with the aim to meet the representatives of the FOP authority as well as the OSH representatives of the two federal entities and of the Brčko Distric: the Ministry of Labour of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Labour of the Brčko District (both met in Sarajevo within the premises of the FOP authority, and with the presence of a EU Delegation representative) and the Ministry of Labour of the Republika Srpska (met in Banja Luka, together with representatives from the FOP authority).

This field visit represented an important developoment in the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and EU-OSHA and boosted OSH communication and information sharing. The last field visit took place, indeed, more than 10 years ago.

EU-OSHA took the opportunity of the meetings with the national and federal entities' and Brčko District authorities to explain the EU-OSHA Strategic Lines of Action and its work programme, to share practical information regarding the IPA action and ways to support national OSH key actors, as well as the explain the coordination role of the Focal Point authority. The OSH ministries shared with the EU agency important information regarding the level of EU OSH acquis transposition and implementation and their national enforcement capacities.

The FOP authority and the OSH ministries agreed to discuss among themselves regarding their OSH needs and priorities and to put forward to EU-OSHA a request for OSH knowledge practical support.
