Description

The Workers’ Exposure Survey identifies probable exposure to cancer risk factors. This report estimates that almost half of the 24,402 workers surveyed across six EU countries were exposed to at least one of these risks. Within the last working week, 11% faced high-level exposure, and for certain activities there was risk of multiple exposures.
For each risk factor, the report details the main circumstances of exposure, the proportion of workers affected, and the use of control measures (such as personal protective equipment, ventilation and enclosed systems).
The use of control measures varies widely. Differences in sectors and worker groups indicate targeted interventions and tailored policies are needed for better prevention.
