Da myndighederne i Namur-provinsen i Belgien besluttede at flytte afdelingerne for ejendomsreparation og -vedligeholdelse til en ny bygning, blev tømrerne i enheden opfordret til at deltage i at planlægge og udforme arbejdsområdet i tømrerværkstedet.
Dette casestudie belyser det vellykkede samarbejde mellem ledelse, tømrere, en ergonom og en arkitekt om at skabe en sikker og ergonomisk arbejdsplads. I sit bidrag til projektet arbejdede ergonomen tæt sammen med to tømrere om at analysere risici og fastlægge specifikationer for det nye værksted. De gennemførte en række simuleringer for at fastlægge den optimale placering af arbejdspladser og maskiner i det nye anlæg ud fra både pladsbehov og sundheds- og sikkerhedsaspekter.
