Description

The closure conference of the joint German occupational safety and health strategy programme will take place on 12 November 2025 in Dortmund, Germany, with the title: ‘Fighting cancer in the workplace’ - a never ending story?!’. The programme includes a European perspective: EU-OSHA Workers’ exposure survey will be presented by Dr Urs Schlüter, who was involved early on in the project as expert, and the Roadmap on carcinogens will be promoted.

Five years of commitment, innovation and actions – working together to ensure safe handling of carcinogenic hazardous substances: we have taken important steps, but the journey continues. The challenge is clear: every year, well over 2,000 people in Germany die of occupational cancer. But rules and regulations, together with consistent prevention, work: together we have proven that change is possible. Together, we face new challenges such as climate change and adherence to the Green Deal. However, new technologies and sustainable approaches open opportunities that we must use not only to create safe and healthy jobs, but also to actively contribute to the improvement of the environment, economy and society.
