In 1998, the Health Care Promotion Law was issued in Austria. The law was established to promote the health and wellbeing within the Austrian public, across all possible stages of life. Education and information about ill-health prevention and health promotion are its manifested targets. Every year a certain amount of tax income is invested for achieving the targets highlighted in the law. The Fonds Gesundes Österreich (FGÖ) has been assigned, among others, to conduct and fund the projects and initiatives aimed to promote health according to the law.
