From July to December 2026, Ireland will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, taking on a central role in steering the EU’s legislative and policy agenda. The Irish Presidency will focus on three key priorities: competitiveness, values and security.
In the area of employment and social affairs, the Presidency is expected to advance discussions on quality jobs, skills development, social inclusion and wellbeing, while supporting the implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights. These priorities will be closely linked to broader efforts to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness and sustainable growth.
