EU-North Africa Seminar

North Africa Seminar April 2015

European Agency for Safety and Health at Work

On 21 and 22 April 2015, EU-OSHA hosted a seminar in Bilbao with representatives from the EU, the ILO and North Africa. The seminar was organised with the support of the European Commission under the auspices of the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP).

EU-OSHA’s ENP project has provided an opportunity to extend our network into countries outside the EU. In implementing this project we have had the opportunity to meet with our partners in Morocco and Tunisia and this seminar was an opportunity to further develop our cooperation with the region.

Exchanging information and good practices is essential for developing strategies for managing occupational safety and health, and the seminar provided an opportunity for participants to hear about developments in the EU and beyond. All the presentations were informative and the discussions were lively and interesting. A summary of the event and the presentations are available here.

There is a strong existing network with countries in the Maghreb as well as existing links with EU Member States. Building on these connections to develop a solid and efficient OSH network in the Mediterranean region can only be beneficial for all parties involved and we look forward to our future collaboration. EU-OSHA would like to extend its gratitude to all participants and especially our colleagues in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia for making the seminar informative, productive and enjoyable. We look forward to working together to make our neighbourhood a safer, healthier and more productive place to work.
