Description
Our Polish focal point, Centralny Instytut Ochrony Pracy - Państwowy Instytut Badawczy, is hosting a screening of Favoriten, winner of the latest Healthy Workplaces Film Awards.
The documentary, directed by Ruth Beckermann, shows a primary school class in Vienna, a city in which more than 60% of the children speak a language other than German at home, and how they are led by a teacher who builds community through empathy, creativity and cooperation, despite limited resources and personnel shortages.
After the screening, occupational safety and health (OSH) experts and trade union members lead a discussion with OSH professionals, government representatives and academics on the pressures faced by teachers today.
Themes include the risks they face at work, alongside strategies for coping with emotional burden, preventing burnout and managing large and diverse classrooms. The debate also examines the right to disconnect and considers which improvements can be made immediately within schools and which require systemic change.
