EU - Eastern Partnership Seminar

On 1-2 December 2015, EU-OSHA had the pleasure of organising a seminar in Bilbao with representatives from the five countries in the Eastern Partnership with which we have collaborated over the course of our European Neighbourhood Policy Project - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. All of these countries have actively participated in the work of the Agency within the framework of the EU’s Neighbourhood Policy.

The seminar was the culmination of almost two years collaboration between EU-OSHA and its colleagues in the Eastern Partnership, including organising events, seminars and meetings as well as translating EU-OSHA material into national languages. It was an opportunity for our colleagues in the Eastern Partnership to come together with experts from EU-OSHA, the European Commission and a number of Members States to discuss the priorities, developments and challenges for OSH in our neighbourhood.

All the countries participating in the ENP project are working hard to develop their national OSH system and it was a great opportunity for EU-OSHA to learn more about what is going on in OSH in the region. Sharing information, experiences and good practice is an invaluable tool in creating real improvements in safety and health in the workplace. As such, we were also very happy to have the support of members of our Focal Point Network and Governing Board as well as DG EMPL, who provided interesting and practical examples of developments both at EU and national level.

A summary of the seminar can be found here.

Over the course of the ENP project, we have also been fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in training seminars, conferences and workshops in each partner country and we hope that there will be many more opportunities in the future. EU-OSHA would like to thank all participants and especially our colleagues in the Eastern Partnership for making the seminar in Bilbao and our cooperation in general so positive.

We look forward to having more opportunities to work together to help make the European Neighbourhood a safer, healthier and more productive place to work.
