Advice for employers on return to work for workers with cancer

This leaflet provides step-by-step guidance for employers on what to do when an employee is diagnosed with cancer.

The recommendations relate to four different phases following the diagnosis: the worker’s disclosure of the medical diagnosis to their employer, the treatment period, planning the employee’s return to work and the return-to-work process itself.

For each of these phases, key considerations about necessary safety and health measures, the employer’s responsibilities and any other topics for discussion with the employee are outlined.
