Act today for tomorrow

In view of demographic change, BMW AG is confronted with new challenges. With the project "heute für morgen" BMW is trying to master the challenges facing an older workforce. The project is is a holistic approach that considers all important areas, from maintaining the productivity of older workers, reducing physical strain, to appropriate retirement. Working together with doctors, physiotherapists and factory planners, older employees have planned an entire assembly line that caters to the needs of an aging workforce. The project implemented among others in the plant in Steyer (Austria) included four work packages to cope with the demographic change: technical measures and ergonomic equipment, promotion of health and safety, organisational measures such as job rotation, management and appropriate qualification.
