Smart insoles for lone worker protection: smart digital systems for improving workers' safety and health

Lone workers in high occupational safety and health (OSH) risk sectors are vulnerable to accidents like falls. This case describes how a system using smart insoles with an integrated sensor and cloud-based software, detects such incidents and enables two-way communication between workers and managers. 

It is one of the smart digital systems designed to improve OSH in fields like energy, construction and pharmacology. This case study is part of the OSH Overview (2020-2023) that explores the challenges and opportunities of this type of new technology.
