New technologies and prevention of occupational risks related to climate change: the case of heat

This discussion paper examines how climate change is increasing heat-related occupational safety and health risks, particularly for outdoor and physically demanding work. It reviews existing prevention measures and analyses the potential role of new technologies, including digital wearables, cooling garments and mobile applications. Drawing on research evidence, survey data and case studies, it highlights benefits, limitations, and governance challenges for effective heat risk prevention at work.
