Smart digital systems for improving worker safety and health: overview of research and practices
Keywords:Use of smart digital systems in the workplace can increase occupational safety and health (OSH). While evidence largely supports this to be the case, the systems present risks and challenges that system developers and its users - employers and workers- still need to consider.
This report provides an overview of nine case studies that have developed or implemented smart digital systems, exemplifying how they can prevent or avoid harm – proactively and/or reactively. Key to overcoming many of the challenges is how the systems are integrated into existing OSH frameworks, safeguarding of data, and engaging workers at the design and implementation stages
