Chemical sensitising agents, such as diisocyanates, are widely used and have been associated with a range of respiratory and skin-related health issues. Diisocyanates, in particular, are among the most frequently reported causes of occupational asthma. Given their extensive use across the EU and the serious risks they pose to worker health, the guidance document aims to support labour inspectorates by providing practical information on how to address and control the health risks posed by sensitising agents.

The manual aims to be a practical, easy to use tool, for all interested stakeholders to be able to support people with chronic diseases and disabilities to manage their condition in the workplace, return to and remain in work, as well as to prevent further disabilities. The main target group is employers, but the manual is also relevant for employers' associations, public authorities, social partners, employment and support services, and individuals with chronic diseases and related disabilities.
