Austria: Psychosocial risk prevention – strategies and legislation

This country report explores approaches to work-related psychosocial risks (PSRs) in Austria. Field research and interviews included a wide range of national stakeholders and social partners playing an important role in occupational safety and health.

Attention to work-related PSRs in Austria is increasing, with ongoing reforms in legislation and strategies supporting implementation. However, several stakeholders highlight that there is still work to be done to improve national, comprehensive implementation of PSR assessments and collective prevention measures. Specifically, reaching smaller companies is still seen as a major challenge by many of the interviewees and digitalisation and related aspects deserve further attention also for future preparedness.
