Denmark: Psychosocial risk prevention – strategies and legislation

This country report explores approaches to work-related psychosocial risks (PSRs) in Denmark. Field research and interviews included a wide range of national stakeholders and social partners playing an important role in occupational safety and health.

The Working Environment Act in Denmark ensures important related legislative measures, and since 2020 the regulatory framework specifically clarifies employers’ responsibilities to ensure a healthy psychosocial workplace.

Yet, increasing rates of PSRs and mental health issues continue to present a challenge. There is need for ongoing evaluation and efforts to address PSRs at both national and sectoral level, requiring action from legislators, employers and workers as well as researchers.
