Training hotel service workers as prevention coordinators to work with colleagues to prevent musculoskeletal disorders

Keywords:

The work of hotel cleaners, linen keepers and catering staff involves awkward movements and posture, lifting and pushing loads, bending and repetitive arm movements.

This case study highlights how training a team of staff members in risk prevention helped a hotel in France independently analyse risks and implement solutions regarding workers’ health and safety.

Through the Regional Health Insurance Fund, six volunteer staff members (cleaners, linen keepers and catering staff) received training as prevention coordinators. In this role, they carefully observed working conditions to identify risks, discussed issues with fellow staff members and produced reports with proposed solutions.
