Norwegian Labour Inspectorate's risk-based-strategy: supporting occupational safety and health compliance (Case NO1)

The Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority is responsible for supervising over 220,000 land-based enterprises to promote occupational safety and health. This case study describes the risk-based strategy the Authority uses to optimise inspection plans and achieve this.

Using a range of information sources, from tip-offs to official reports, inspectors use the strategy – and their expertise – to reach industries, businesses and the workforce facing the greatest risks. The strategy covers different working environment challenges and is potentially transferrable to provide value in EU Member States.
