Summary - Managing psychosocial risks in European micro and small enterprises: Qualitative evidence from the Third European Survey of Enterprises on New and Emerging Risks (ESENER 2019)

It is based on qualitative evidence from interviews at micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in Denmark, Germany, Spain, Croatia, the Netherlands and Poland, all of which participated in the Third European Survey of Enterprises on New and Emerging Risks (ESENER 2019).
This report provides information that helps explore how psychosocial risk management is organised in MSEs, as reported by managers and workers. It contributes to a better understanding of the factors at play regarding the setting in which companies operate, including national context, economic factors and job-related issues.
The study confirms ESENER 2019 findings that cite allowing more flexibility in the way that workers organise their own tasks and working hours as the main way of preventing psychosocial risks and addresses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic as reported by the interviewed workplaces.
