The circular economy and safety and health: project overview and next steps


As the EU implements more environmentally sustainable policies, including initiatives to create a circular economy (CE), impacts on climate change, jobs and occupational safety and health (OSH) are expected.

This overview of EU-OSHA’s foresight project anticipates the future effects of adopting a CE on the environment, jobs and OSH. It describes the development and core features of four distinct scenarios focused on the CE and their effects on working conditions and potential OSH implications in 2040.

The brief concludes with details of the project’s next steps to communicate the results to stakeholders so that future EU policy decisions make work safer and healthier.
