To mark World Cancer Day 2026, EU-OSHA highlights its contribution to the 5th edition of the European Code Against Cancer (ECAC5) developed by the World Health Organization. ECAC5 sets out 14 evidence-based recommendations on lifestyle, environment (including cancer-causing factors at work), and medical prevention.

Although cancer is a leading cause of death in the EU, around 40% of cases are preventable. ECAC5 recommendations offer a roadmap to reduce cancer risk, tackle misconceptions about cancer, and improve public health and wellbeing. Discover how these recommendations can save lives.

EU-OSHA is a proud contributor to a professional article on the ECAC5 methodology and awareness of cancer risk factors in the January 2026 issue of Molecular Oncology. Other articles explore UV radiation and radon, occupational exposures, and air pollution.
