Cancer remains the leading cause of work‑related deaths in the EU, accounting for 100,000 fatalities annually and exposing millions of workers to cancer risk factors in their daily jobs. Marking the European Week Against Cancer 2026, our new thematic web section presents data on work-related cancer and an overview of EU action on prevention.
Two subsections highlight our research project on occupational exposure to cancer risks factors and the Stop Carcinogens at Work initiative, which focuses on understanding the risks and taking action.
Explore the section to learn more about the leading cause of work-related deaths in the EU and what can be done to prevent it.
