Summary - Artificial intelligence for worker management: an overview
Keywords:Data concerning employees and the way they carry out their jobs is being gathered in real-time by artificial intelligence (AI) and used to make automated or semi-automated management decisions in the workplace. The irrevocable rise of these AI-based worker management (AIWM) systems presents opportunities but also risks and challenges for workers.
This report outlines the characteristics of these new forms of worker management, the consequences of their deployment in workplaces on workers’ health, safety and wellbeing, and how these are addressed at the research, policy and practice levels. It also includes recommendations for policy, research and implementation for the development and use of human-centered AIWM systems in the workplace.
