Prevention services in supporting occupational safety and health compliance in Germany

This policy brief focuses on the role, function and future of external (private and public) prevention services in Germany’s occupational safety and health (OSH) system. It outlines the challenges they face in fulfilling their role and presents initiatives and policy pointers to help overcome them.

A coordinated approach to prevention is needed as well as digital tools for operational support. Initiatives joining OSH experts can help improve in advising companies on OSH, and more research should be conducted on the effectiveness of prevention services and on barriers to action in OSH.
