The future of work: performance-enhancing drugs
Keywords:The use of drugs for non-medical reasons as cognitive enhancers is becoming normalised among certain groups of workers. And, with an increasingly competitive society and working environment, the use of these drugs is only expected to grow in the future while the long-term effects on workers are still unknown. This article describes what performance-enhancing drugs are, the current prevalence of use of these drugs and their effects, and discusses the implications this may have for occupational safety and health.
