The ‘Farmers have Hearts’ programme seeks to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease among farmers in Ireland by providing mobile health checks at livestock marts, agricultural shows and agri-branches. Participating farmers have a confidential medical check and receive personalised lifestyle advice, GP referrals as needed and follow-up support for behaviour change. The programme model is transferable, but will require local adaptation, sustainable funding and stronger occupational health integration.
