Replacing hazardous resin with 3D printing to make moulds

Keywords:Dangerous substances, Carcinogens, Campaign 2018-2019

A manufacturer of perfumes and toiletry preparations in Croatia chose to replace a highly dangerous substance, epoxy resins, with a less harmful alternative. Although the production process already adhered to regulations, the company decided that it was worth changing the process to 3D printing if it would protect its workers’ health. The substitution resulted in a substantially reduced risk of developing, for example, allergic contact dermatitis and occupational asthma, and greatly increased workers’ productivity levels.
