Worker exposure to virtual and augmented reality and metaverse technologies: How much do we know?

Workers undoubtedly benefit from virtual, augmented and extended reality and metaverse technologies, but there are also multifaceted associated risks. 

Drawing on literature reviews and interviews, this discussion paper seeks to accurately identify the impacts on OSH, both in terms of opportunities and risks. It calls for a comprehensive approach that considers the occupational environment, the effect of long-term, combined exposures, the lack of standardisation, and inclusive design suitable for the workforce diversity among other factors. 

This will help ensure that these technologies benefit workplace productivity and occupational safety and health.
