Public order and safety service personnel may be exposed to psychoactive substances during narcotics operations or evidence handling. Exposure to even microdoses of such substances can adversely affect health, reducing workers’ quality of life and ability to work. The Detoxikon project — a collaboration between VAKOS XT and the Czech Ministry of the Interior — has introduced sustainable and innovative measures to address this problem. A combination of standard decontamination procedures, training and awareness raising, and specific therapy and support has led to demonstrable improvements in safety and health practices and worker health and well-being.
