Working safely with manufactured nanomaterials - non-binding guides

The European Commission published in 2019 two guides on OSH and nanomaterials, one for employers and safety practitioners, and one for workers.

The Non-binding Guide for Employers and Health and Safety Practitioners provides an overview of the issues surrounding the safe use of manufactured nanomaterials (MNMs) at work, sets out the broad outlines for preventive action and provides a practical tool for complying with specific aspects of ensuring worker safety, such as risk assessment and risk management. This may be of particular value to those who do not have an in-depth technical understanding of the issues involved and it also may assist in ensuring compliance with the OSH legislation when dealing with MNMs, particularly the Chemical Agents Directive 98/24/EEC

There is also a less technical supplementary guidance document, Non-binding Guide for Workers. This will be of interest to workers who wish to learn more on this topic, providing an introduction to the issues surrounding and approaches to working safely with MNMs.
