Risk assessment by a small company using stoffenmanager nano
27/03/2012
Companies in the Netherlands working with manufactured nano objects (MNO) are expected to limit potential risks to fulfil the general obligations of the occupational health and safety act related to labour-risks. This means they need to include an estimation of risk for the MNO in their risk inventory and evaluation. However, currently the assessment of possible health risks as a result of nano-particle exposure is associated with significant uncertainties.
The Stoffenmanager Nano control-banding tool was developed as a first step in risk assessment in order to assess and rank the human health risks from inhalation of nanoparticles in the workplace and where necessary, to introduce effective control measures. This case study describes the use of the control-banding tool Stoffenmanager Nano by a small company.
