Power stations require maintenance regularly in order to run smoothly and efficiently. These maintenance tasks are complex and may involve dangerous situations for the workers. Another risk factor arises from the use of contract workers; during one major overhaul, about 700 workers were contractors while only 40 were workers employed directly by Electrabel.
