Madrid’s Department of Public Health and Alimentation published a manual for the prevention of risk from Legionnaires’ disease. It is based on the principles of HACCP systems and contains useful information for the design and maintenance of cooling towers, evaporative condensers, hot- and cold-water supply systems, whirlpools and swimming pools. The Manual adopts an auto-control approach, suitable for maintenance technicians. Training programmes for inspectors and technicians on a basic, a standard and an advanced level were also carried out.
