Factors for success: development and promotion of French OiRA tools

Risk assessment can be especially challenging for micro and small enterprises (MSEs) because they lack resources and know-how in handling issues of occupational safety and health. For this reason, the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work launched OiRA (Online interactive Risk Assessment), an adaptable platform that facilitates the creation of risk assessment tools.  

This case study looks at how France has been implementing OiRA tools to promote risk assessment for MSEs in various job sectors. Collaboration among the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and sectoral social partners has led to the development and increasing uptake of risk assessment tools for MSEs.

The case study concludes by analysing the success factors and obstacles that still need to be overcome.
