Electromagnetic fields: present and future challenges for occupational safety and health

Modern society depends more and more on the use of technology that produces electromagnetic fields (EMFs). While these technologies have become integral to nearly every aspect of life, they also bring inherent risks. This discussion paper explores how advancements in fields such as wireless communication technologies and medical applications present challenges for occupational safety and health, particularly due to limited understanding of safe EMF exposure levels. The paper emphasises the need for regularly updates of legislation and guidance, based on continuous research to protect workers.
