Workers in the meat industry face numerous risks at work, from cuts due to working with knives to thermal risks from handling frozen pieces of meat and musculoskeletal disorders because of static standing postures and manual handling of loads.
To make sure that they are safe and healthy at work, it is crucial to carry out regular and thorough risk assessments and follow it up with the respective measures.
Six Online interactive Risk Assessment (OiRA) tools have been developed by different EU-OSHA’s national partners for this sector. They are a freely available, including a Greek tool aimed at protecting butchers working inside a supermarket. Check them out!
