The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) adopted an opinion calling for stronger labour protections and better conditions for Europe’s agricultural workers.
The opinion addresses critical challenges facing the sector, including the decline of family farms, increasing reliance on migrant workers, and worsening labour shortages. Projections show the agricultural workforce is expected to shrink by 2% annually, falling from 17 million workers in 2020 to just 7.7 million by 2030.
