Description

An awareness-raising event taking place in Thessaloniki, Greece, is focusing on the European Workers’ exposure survey on cancer risk factors in Europe (WES). The survey identifies the main carcinogenic risk factors and provides accurate data to guide prevention and policymaking efforts aimed at reducing exposure and protecting workers.

The event, organised by our Greek focal point Hellenic Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, begins with an introduction to occupational safety and health (OSH), including European and national strategies, the cost of occupational diseases and the importance of prevention. Further sessions address recent developments in legislation on carcinogens, mutagens and other dangerous substances, along with presentations on their management.

Additional topics include the Roadmap on Carcinogens and the role of digital tools such as the Greek Iridanos platform, supporting the monitoring of carcinogenic substances in workplaces.
