EU-OSHA ENP Project in Moldova
On 18 May 2015, EU-OSHA was invited to participate in a Council of Europe Conference on “Fostering Social rights in the Eastern partnership Area: Focus on the European Social Charter” organised by the PACE (Parliamentary Assembly – Council of Europe) subcommittee on the European Social Charter. EU-OSHA’s Network Manager Tim Tregenza gave a presentation on labour protection in terms of occupational safety and health.
The event was held on 18 May in the Moldovan Parliament, with representatives from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and delegates from the Eastern Partnership Area (Azerbiajan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine). The discussion included all issues under the social charter. Delegates were particularly interested in the ESENER findings relating to drivers and barriers to occupational safety and health.
During the visit to Moldova, EU-OSHA also organised a seminar on risk assessment for the Romanian Labour Inspectorate on 19 May 2015. Supporting EU-OSHA was Ms Monica Toaje of the Romanian Labour Inspectorate. Some 30 people attended the event, including labour inspectors and social partners, which provoked a lively discussion, particularly about how goal setting legislation could be implemented in practice and compliance achieved based on the use of risk assessment.
EU-OSHA would like to thank our partners in the Moldovan Ministry of Labour and also the Council of Europe for inviting us to Moldova and we look forward to further collaboration in the future.
