cognitive enhancement
amplification or extension of core capacities of the mind through external means, such as enhancement drugs

Franke et al noted: "The present results indicate that about 15% to 20% of surgeons have used drugs for CE [ cognitive enhancement ] or ME [mood enhancement] at least once during their lifetimes. This may be attributed to high workload and perceived work-related and private stress" (2013: 109).
