Definition:
blunt or penetrating trauma to the abdomen, normaly called belly, that can damage the abdominal organs

DPL is indicated for the following patients in the setting of blunt trauma: … Obtunded patients with a possible abdominal injury; Intoxicated patients in whom abdominal injury is suggested; Patients with potential intra-abdominal injury who will undergo prolonged anesthesia for another procedure.
