The maintenance of machinery taking into account both productivity and safety is a complex activity, particularly the maintenance of specialist machines utilizing innovative technology, installed in several factories across a vast area. To make matter more complicated, maintenance work is often outsourced to specialized companies. Maintenance work, by its very nature, often means exposure to health and safety risks for maintenance staff as well as the machinery operators.
