The development of dynamic risk assessment and its implications for occupational safety and health
Keywords:Risk assessment is paramount to well-being in the workplace. As a fundamental element of the European approach to occupational safety and health (OSH), risk assessment is a requirement for all work environments in EU Member States. Yet, there is great variation in its performance across the Member States, with SMEs presenting the most difficulty in this regard.
This discussion paper looks at the progress business and industry are making in risk assessment. In particular, it considers different issues related to developments in dynamic risk assessment.
The paper examines the topic from the perspectives of a business approach and the process safety industries. It presents the implications and important lessons from both perspectives in the application of dynamic risk assessment in the management of OSH.
