Roadmap on Carcinogens Closing Event
Roadmap on Carcinogens Closing Event
Event Details
Description
The Roadmap on Carcinogens Closing Event will take place on 12 and 13 June 2024 in Brussels.
The Roadmap on Carcinogens was originally launched in May 2016, when six key European organisations began working on a new initiative: a voluntary action scheme to exchange good practices and raise awareness on the risks arising from exposure to carcinogens in the workplace.
This scheme was initially thought to have a four-year duration and got the title “Roadmap on Carcinogens”. In 2020 the partners concluded that the Roadmap was making good progress but far from finished. Therefore, in November 2020 a new strategy for 2020 – 2024 was presented, which began in Berlin and will end in Brussels during the Belgian EU Presidency.
During the closing event, a state of play on carcinogens will be presented as well as the achievements of the Roadmap, according to its different pillars and challenges. The Roadmap partners will look back on how the journey began, what happened and what was realised during their voyage. They will also reflect on the current state-of-affairs and what still needs to be done, especially regarding the way in which the Roadmap’s achievements can be further consolidated and implemented into practice. On top of this, the closing event will address the priorities of the Belgian presidency regarding the prevention of carcinogens at work.
EU-OSHA will contribute to the event by giving a keynote speech including results of the Workers’ Exposure Survey on Cancer Risk Factors in Europe. The Executive Director of EU-OSHA, William Cockburn, will also be participating in a panel discussion on concerns for the future.
